The Ukrainian studio 4A Games still remains under the wing of the Swedish company Embracer Group after Saber Interactive's separation. This was reported by gaming journalist Jason Schreier.
When the news first broke that Embracer Group was going to sell the semi-Russian Saber Interactive, the fate of 4A Games remained unknown. Back then, as part of the deal , Saber reserved the option to buy out the Ukrainian studio and the Hungarian Zen Studios, which were already part of its structure.
At the time, Schreier also confirmed that Saber had decided to take advantage of this opportunity and take the Ukrainian studio with it. He says the same thing now, that the original plan was to take the Ukrainian studio with them.
Fortunately, however, this did not happen. Saber Interactive CEO Matt Karch told Schreier that the company had always intended to take over 4A. However, after discussions, both parties came to the conclusion that it would be better if the Ukrainian studio remained with Embracer.
While Embracer Group's future plans for 4A Games are still unknown, the rights to the Metro series remained with Plaion, which also remained part of Embracer, even after Saber Interactive's separation and the possibility of selling the Ukrainian studio. No official announcements have been made, but the possibility that 4A will continue to work on the series has increased significantly.
