Google, in cooperation with the Indian startup Salcit Technologies, is developing artificial intelligence that will be able to detect the first stages of diseases by ear. This is reported by TechCrunch.
How? Google trained its underlying artificial intelligence model on 300 million audio recordings that include coughing, sneezing, and heavy breathing to identify, for example, someone who is battling tuberculosis.
Salcit Technologies is developing artificial intelligence for respiratory diseases. The companies want to implement this technology in smartphones, where it can potentially help high-risk populations in regions with limited access to medical care.
This is not Google's first attempt to digitize the human senses. Its venture capital arm has also backed at least one startup that uses artificial intelligence to try to identify signs of illness by smell.
