The Witcher 4, also known by its codename Polaris, is leaving the pre-production phase and soon the project, which will be the first in a new trilogy, will enter full production, as reported in early 2024. Currently, 410 CD Projekt Red employees are working on the game.
In addition, the Boston-based CD Projekt Red studio, which is working on Orion, a new game in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, has been and will continue to be busy. The company's financial report states that the developers are currently laying the groundwork for the upcoming game and that everything is on schedule.
In addition to the new Witcher trilogy and the next project in the Cyberpunk universe, CD Projekt Red also has Project Sirius, a multiplayer game being developed by The Molasses Flood, as well as a remake of the first part of The Withcer, which the studio is working on with Fool's Theory. Unfortunately, we can only guess at the release dates.
The company also shared the success of the REDkit modding tool for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. According to the financial report, many players have shown interest in creating mods even almost 10 years after the game's release.
They also talked about their financial results. During the first half of 2024, the company received PLN 425 million, in particular due to the successful sales of Cyberpunk 2077 and the Phantom Liberty expansion pack.
Net profit amounted to PLN 170 million. CD Projekt's financial reserves also grew, and despite PLN 100 million paid out as dividends and PLN 150 million spent on new projects, the company's reserves increased by PLN 55 million.
