In 2021, Sony released the $100 WF-C500 budget TWS headphones. Over the course of three years, this model has received many improvements, but the average price of budget headphones has dropped significantly, so the company has introduced new WF-C510 headphones for $60, Engadget reports.
The new model is 20% smaller and 15% lighter than the C500. Sony claims that this model is the smallest closed-back headphone design ever. The C510s are IPX4-rated, so they can be used during workouts, and the headphone body and case are made from recycled plastic.
Sony has added a transparency mode, although the headphones do not have active noise cancellation (ANC). The company also added a multipoint Bluetooth connection.
The headphones can work for 11 hours without additional charging in the box. The box will last for another 11 hours. The headphones also have a fast charging function that will provide one hour of battery life in 5 minutes of charging.
The C510s will work with Sony's headphone app, which allows you to customize settings, and support 360 Reality Audio and DSEE upscaling, a tool that restores detail lost in compression.
The WF-C510 is available for pre-order now in black, blue, white, and yellow colors and is scheduled to be available in September this year.
