Microsoft is not only adding new features to Windows 11, but also getting rid of outdated programs and system elements, such as Paint 3D and now the Control Panel. This was reported by Neowin.
Rumors about the company's intention to remove the Control Panel from the system first appeared in 2011, before the release of Windows 8. In 2015, the company's executives even confirmed that they intended to completely replace the control panel with a new settings program. However, this element of the system is still present, but perhaps not for long.
On the official website, the company stated that "Control Panel is in the process of ending support in favor of the Settings app, which offers a more modern and simplified experience."
Microsoft still needs to move some settings from the Control Panel to Settings, but once that's done, the Panel will likely be removed from Windows 11 for good. The Control Panel was first introduced in 1985, and finally, almost 40 years later, the company is planning to abandon it.
