Tango Gameworks, the developers of the unexpected 2023 hit Hi-Fi Rush, have found a new home. The Japanese studio was bought by the South Korean publisher Krafton, among other things known for PUBG. It is reported by Automaton.
In May 2024, Microsoft unexpectedly announced that it was closing Tango Gameworks along with several other studios. Now the studio's employees and the rights to Hi-Fi Rush are being transferred to Krafton. Both parties were assisted by ZeniMax Media and Microsoft.
The publisher says that it plans to further develop the Hi-Fi Rush franchise, but changes to the already released game, as well as to other studio projects such as The Evil Within and Ghostwire, will not be made: Tokyo, will not be changed, as these games remain in the Microsoft catalog.
In its statement, Krafton says that this is the first major investment in the Japanese gaming market and an important step for the publisher's global strategy. The decision to acquire Tango Gameworks is explained by the high appreciation of the studio's originality and ability to create games.
So far, further plans for the new studio have not been disclosed, except for the intention to further develop the Hi-Fi Rush franchise with new projects, but there are no further details beyond the statement.
