Elon Musk's Tesla is being sued again. This time, the electric vehicle manufacturer was sued by the parents of a motorcyclist who died in an accident involving a Model 3 in autopilot mode in 2022. The tragedy occurred in Utah (USA), Reuters reports.

The family of the deceased is also suing the driver of the car. The motorcyclist's parents claim that the driver assistant software and other safety features are "defective and inadequate."

The lawsuit states that 34-year-old Landon Embry died at the scene after a Model 3 on autopilot at 75-80 miles per hour hit the back of his Harley Davidson motorcycle, throwing him off the vehicle.

The document also states that the driver of the Model 3 was "tired" and "unable to drive like a normal careful driver". The lawsuit notes that autopilot sensors, such as cameras, "should have detected the danger posed by the deceased's motorcycle."

"A reasonably prudent driver, or adequate auto braking system, would have, and could have slowed or stopped without colliding with the motorcycle," the lawsuit says.

Earlier, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) found significant problems with Tesla's autopilot and full autonomous driving systems, linking them to numerous accidents and fatalities due to lack of driver engagement.
