Google Chrome for computers will soon get the equivalent of the popular Circle to Search feature available in Pixel and Samsung Galaxy smartphones. This was reported by 9to5Google.
The feature will be called Search with Google Lens and will work similarly to Circle to Search. If you are interested in something, you select it on the screen and immediately get information about it.
On Chromebooks, the new feature can be activated by clicking on the Google Lens icon that appears in the Chrome browser address bar. After selecting the desired area of the screen, the search result will appear in a separate column in the same tab.
In Windows 11 and macOS, this feature will be a little more hidden. It will be located in the settings, but you can pin it to the overflow menu (right edge of the screen, next to the address bar).
It's a relatively small change, but it can completely change your browsing experience. For example, you're watching a music video and a certain car catches your eye. You can pause the video, launch a new feature, quickly highlight the car, and get information about it.
The feature has already appeared in the beta version of Chrome 128 and ChromeOS. It should be available for general use in the near future.
