The Netflix app for Windows 11 has received an update. However, it can hardly be called high-quality. This is reported by TechRadar.

To begin with, instead of a full-fledged application, it's now just a web wrapper. The app launches the Netflix.com page in a separate Edge container. Now it's just an Edge window that looks like a separate application.

The key combination Cntrl+N opens a new tab in the Edge browser. Apparently, the ability to use the browser through Netflix will be able to compensate for the other disadvantages of the update.

Secondly, the lack of the ability to download content - now viewing is only available online. In the event of a power outage, you can't expect to watch something on your laptop that you've always had no time for.

However, you can still download content on smartphones.

The company previously stated that the new app is designed for a "consistent, high-quality experience." The new app will now have access to live events and will be compatible with tariff plans that include advertising.

The old version of the app is no longer available for download in the Microsoft Store and will be discontinued in the near future.
