The video was uploaded by the user @MrReaganUSA and noted in his post that the video was a "parody". Eight hours later, Musk reposted the video to his own account, and he decided not to clarify the parody nature of the video.
"Deepfakes" are becoming a growing problem. For example, in January of this year, a series of cold calls were made in the United States, in which the generated voice of Joe Biden urged voters not to vote in the election.
During this year's Republican primaries, many fake videos were circulated showing former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton supporting Florida Governor Ron DeSantis or announcing her early withdrawal from the race.
The federal law on election campaigns prohibits fraudulent misrepresentation of information about federal candidates or political parties, but the law was written in 1971 and is poorly adapted to modern technology.
