OpenAI may exhaust its cash reserves within a year. The company's expenses for 2024 may reach $7 billion, outstripping revenues. This was reported by the Times of India.

Such large expenditures include $4 billion to pay for Microsoft servers despite huge discounts on Microsoft Azure, and up to $3 billion to train new artificial intelligence models.

OpenAI also currently employs about 1,500 people, which will potentially cost the company $1.5 billion, three times the original spending plans.

At the same time, the company's revenue is about $2 billion for ChatGPT, and about $1 billion for access to large language models. In total, the company's revenues are estimated to be between $3.5 and $4.5 billion a year. This difference could mean the need for new financing.

It is also reported that the company uses about 350 thousand NVIDIA A100 chips, of which about 290 thousand are designed for ChatGPT and work almost at full capacity all the time.

At the same time, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said that he doesn't care about the costs as long as he can "figure out a way to pay the bills."
