The losses of Fortune 500 companies as a result of the global failure of Windows computers caused by a flawed update from CrowdStrike will amount to $5.4 billion. The Guardian writes about such estimates of the insurance company Parametrix.

At the same time, the projected losses do not take into account Microsoft, whose software was affected by the massive failure. As you know, the tech giant said that the situation affected 8.5 million Windows computers.

Insurers estimate that banking and healthcare companies, as well as major airlines, will suffer the most. Total insured losses for companies that are not on the Fortune 500 list could range from $540 million to $1.08 billion.

Earlier, CrowdStrike stated that the failure was caused by a bug in the security mechanism that was missed during testing. It allowed flawed data to reach customers in a failed update.

Prior to the failure, CrowdStrike was valued at approximately $83 billion. According to its website, the company serves about 538 Fortune 1000 companies and operates worldwide.
