Steve Sinclair, CEO of Digital Extremes, the developers of Warframe, said in an interview that, in his opinion, large studios are abandoning the development of their game services too quickly. This was reported by VGC.

He highlighted the fact that studios with large budgets and resources believe that the release of a game service should be successful immediately, and if the game does not meet their preliminary expectations, they simply abandon it, as was the case with Anthem and Knockout City by Electronic Arts.

“They think the release is make or break, and it’s not. They have a financial way to be persistent, and they never do it,” Sinclair said. “It comes out, doesn’t work and they throw it away. Isn’t that a shame when you put so many years of your life into iterating on those systems or building technology or building the start of a community, and because the operating costs are high, you get terrified when you see the numbers drop and you leave."

Sinclair also noted that this is a constant situation with large, high-profile releases that he sees as having huge potential, and believes that these games leave the market too soon.

Sinclair and Digital Extremes know a thing or two about how to successfully maintain a service game. Warframe, which was released in 2013, is still actively retaining its audience and is constantly evolving, and soon the game will also receive a major update of Warframe 1999, which, among other things, will add the ability to "romance" characters.

In addition, Digital Extremes is currently working on another project - Soulframe, which, unlike the futuristic setting of Warframe, will offer players a fantasy MMO.

During the TennoCon 2024 presentation, the company also presented a new gameplay video of the upcoming game.
