Google is preparing a new feature for the Google Pixel that will give smartphone owners the ability to limit the device's charging to 80%. It is reported by Android Authority.
The update will be in addition to the Adaptive Charging feature that Google introduced in December 2020. As of now, if a smartphone is put on charge at night, it will charge up to 80% quickly, and then slowly gain a full charge, adjusting when the owner wakes up.
In Android 15, users will be allowed to set a limit of 80%, after which the smartphone will not continue to charge. It is not yet known whether the company plans to allow changing this percentage.
In the battery settings, a new page "Charging Optimization" will appear, which will allow you to enable the existing Adaptive Charging mode or set a charging limit of up to 80%.
Given that the release of Android 15 is still relatively far away, the new feature may appear on Google Pixel closer to the end of 2024. It is also not yet known whether it will be available with the Android 15 update on non-Google devices.
