"Apps should provide a stable, responsive, and engaging user experience. Apps that crash, do not have the basic degree of adequate utility as mobile apps, lack engaging content, or exhibit other behavior that is not consistent with a functional and engaging user experience are not allowed on Google Play," the company's website says..
Among the uninstalled programs will be those that do not install, install and do not start, or have persistent problems with crashing. In addition, programs that do not perform any function will also be removed.
Among other apps that violate the policy, the company also cites those with no specific functions, such as text-only or PDF apps, as well as apps with a small set of content that do not provide an engaging experience, such as smartphone wallpaper apps.
The new Google Play policy will come into effect on August 31, 2024, after which the company will start removing apps with the listed violations. It is not entirely clear what will happen to useful apps that somehow fall under Google's new policy, including the already mentioned PDF programs.
