Elon Musk said that he plans to move the headquarters of X and SpaceX from California to Texas after the state's governor signed a bill aimed at supporting LGBT students. This was reported by The Verge.
"Because of this law and the many others that preceded it, attacking both families and companies, SpaceX will now move its HQ from Hawthorne, California, to Starbase, Texas," Musk wrote.
This law prohibits schools from requiring teachers to disclose changes in students' gender identity without their permission (even to the child's parents), and introduces liability for a ban on "coming out".
Musk will move X's headquarters, which is currently located in San Francisco, to Austin, Texas. Last year, The Wall Street Journal reported that Musk plans to build his own city near Austin called Snailbrook. In addition, Musk stated that he wants to open his own university in Austin.
This is not the first time Musk has moved his business. He also relocated Tesla's headquarters to Texas in 2021 after California health officials closed the Fremont plant during the COVID-19 pandemic.
