So, it's happened - the Ford Capri is back! But hardly in the form that everyone expected: instead of the classic gasoline coupe of the 1970s and 1980s, we now have an electric crossover.
Of course, the designers tried to give the new 4.6-meter Ford Capri crossover the styling of the famous coupe. For example, it is worth noting the characteristic line of the windows with a rounding at the rear, the aerodynamic roof slope and smooth transition to the trunk lid, the dual headlights (by the way, matrix) and the dark insert between them.
The new Ford Capri electric crossover is based on the VW MEB platform, as both companies once signed a cooperation agreement. Therefore, the base version of the Ford Capri has rear-wheel drive: a single electric motor produces 210 kW or 286 hp and promises to reach 60 in 6.4 seconds. This electric crossover is equipped with a 77 kWh battery, which should be enough for a range of up to 627 km.
In addition, a Ford Capri crossover with two electric motors and all-wheel drive has already been promised. In this case, you can count on a power of 250 kW or 340 hp and acceleration to "hundreds" in 5.3 seconds. However, even with a slightly larger battery with a capacity of 79 kWh, energy consumption is slightly higher and the range is correspondingly slightly shorter - up to a maximum of 592 km.
In the cabin of the new Ford Capri, a 14.6-inch vertical display attracts attention. Is it too big? Then you can hide it, because it is made movable and can be pulled out of the center console. In addition, inside the Ford Capri there is space for an additional driver display and a huge center console that can accommodate a 15-inch tablet.
The maximum equipment of the electric vehicle will offer seats with massage, a premium B&O audio system, heated steering wheel and seats, etc. In addition, the new Ford Capri promises excellent practicality - a full-fledged 5-seater cabin and a 572-liter trunk.
Sales of the new Ford Capri electric vehicle will begin soon, and the starting price in Europe is already known: from 51 thousand euros. Although the Ford Capri crossover with all-wheel drive and in the maximum configuration will probably reach the full 60 thousand euros.
