Global PC shipments grew by 3% in the second quarter of 2024, driven by demand for AI-enabled devices. Apple shows the highest growth among all manufacturers. It is reported by Reuters.
In the second quarter ended in June, PC shipments reached 64.9 million units. According to IDC, Apple's shipments jumped 20.8% compared to the second quarter of 2023, the largest increase among global PC makers, followed by Acer Group with 13.7%.
So far, China, one of the largest markets, remains separate from global trends. As noted, if China is excluded from the general statistics, the market growth rate will reach 5%.
The PC market is expected to rebound from the pandemic lull. With two consecutive quarters of growth, the excitement around AI PCs, and a commercial refresh cycle, this is exactly what the PC market needs, said Ryan Reith, vice president of IDC's Worldwide Device Trackers group.
