YouTube Music is testing a new generative radio feature. Users will be able to give the artificial intelligence a text prompt, and it will select the appropriate songs at the user's request. This was reported by 9to5Google.
The new feature will start appearing for random users. When it is rolled out, the "Ask for music any way you like" offer will appear on the home page with the note "Experiment".
After clicking on this section, the service will ask the user to describe the music they want to listen to. For example, it can be pop choruses, epic soundtracks, etc.
The service selects the first 3 tracks, then the music will be offered as you listen.
YouTube Music will then create the radio station and use the existing playlist card to display the result. The query will be used as the name of the radio station, and it will be labeled "Created for you" and have a description.
It's not yet known which users will be able to access this feature and whether a YouTube Premium subscription is required. Unfortunately, YouTube Music does not have an equivalent to youtube.com/new.
