Rumors about the return of the Mitsubishi Pajero have been circulating for years. With the introduction of the new Infiniti QX80, it looked like the Nissan Patrol and Mitsubishi Pajero would become somewhat simplified versions of this vehicle - but still retain large dimensions and a powerful turbo engine. This will probably be the case with the Nissan Patrol SUV. But the Mitsubishi Pajero may face a different fate.
CARSCOOPS magazine claims that the new Mitsubishi Pajero will be only a luxury version of the Mitsubishi Outlander: the design and interior will change slightly, but not the very essence of this middle-class crossover.
Externally, the new Mitsubishi Pajero should have a more aggressive design with hints of off-road capabilities: a massive front bumper with a cut-off lower part, wheel arch linings, and high sill plates. Inside, there may be new air ducts, a larger central display, and more luxurious trim, which will position the Mitsubishi Pajero slightly higher than the Mitsubishi Outlander.
And the most important change should be the emergence of a more "advanced" version of the Plug-In hybrid: a gasoline engine and two electric motors to drive the front/rear wheels, a total power of 285 kW or 382 hp, the ability to drive exclusively on the electric drive, etc. Which of these will become a reality? We will find out in 2027, when the new Mitsubishi Pajero is due to appear. But until then, we still want to hope and believe that the new Mitsubishi Pajero will change the concept and become a large, serious SUV, not just another crossover.
