Microsoft employees in China have been told that starting in September they will not be allowed to use Android smartphones in the workplace. This was reported by Bloomberg.
Employees will be forced to use only Apple devices to verify their identity when using work computers or smartphones. The move is part of Microsoft's Secure Feature initiative and will affect hundreds of employees in China.
In addition, the tech giant wants to make sure that all employees use Microsoft Authenticator and Identity Pass to further enhance privacy in the company.
This decision was made in part because Google Play is not available in China, unlike the App Store, which is why local smartphone manufacturers like Huawei or Xiaomi use their own platforms. Because of this, the company decided to block access to its corporate resources from these devices.
All employees who use Android devices will receive an iPhone 15 as a one-time purchase. The company has not publicly commented on the situation.
