Google is starting to test a major new program to block third-party cookies in Chrome, which websites use to track user activity. This was reported by The Verge.

Starting January 4, the new Tracking Protection feature will be tested for a limited number of users. It will limit access to the website to third-party cookies by default.

According to Google, about 1% of all Chrome users will be randomly selected to test Tracking Protection. If you encounter any problems with certain websites while using this feature, the browser will prompt you to re-allow third-party cookies.

The company plans to start rolling out this feature to all users in the second half of 2024.
