Wikipedia has published a list of the 25 most popular pages in 2023.
"People around the world have a lot of questions. And when they’re looking for answers, they turn to Wikipedia. English Wikipedia received over 84 billion views this year alone, according to data from the Wikimedia Foundation, the nonprofit that hosts Wikipedia," the organization said in a announcement.
The first place in this list is taken by ChatGPT by OpenAI with 49.5 million views. The second place was taken by articles about people who died this year (42.7 million), and the third place was taken by the 2023 Cricket World Cup (38.2 million).
Interestingly, the Top has many articles with purely Indian content, such as cricket competitions and exclusively Indian movies, but no articles related to China. It's simple: since April 23, 2019, all versions of Wikipedia have been blocked in China.
The article about Russia's invasion of Ukraine was ranked 24th in this year's Wikipedia list. It received almost 12.8 million views.
