Tomorrow, on October 24, 2023, the Windows version of the city-planning simulator Cities Skylines II by the Finnish studio Colossal Order will be released. On the occasion of this event, the developers have prepared a release trailer for the game.
As a reminder, Cities Skylines II is an ultimatum city-planning simulator and a direct sequel to the most popular city-planning game Cities Skylines from the same Colossal Order, which has sold more than 12 million copies.
The PC version of Cities: Skylines II is now available on Steam and Xbox Store, besides, the game will be released in PC Games Pass. Console versions of Cities: Skylines II should reach players in the second quarter of 2024.
Interestingly, according to GamesRadar, referring to the words of Colossal Order CEO Mariina Hallikainen, unlike the previous game, Cities: Skylines II will not have a bunch of DLC and 10 years of support.
"We absolutely cannot have ten years of Cities Skylines 1 content done" for the launch of the sequel, Colossal Order CEO Mariina Hallikainen says in the latest issue of PC Gamer. As a result, the studio decided to focus on "those things that we feel should have been in the original Cities: Skylines, but we didn't have the time or manpower."
But it seems that the launch of Cities Skylines II will not be very smooth. Some sites, including GamesRadar, complain about a lot of bugs and nightmarish game optimization. In 1080p mode, Cities Skylines II delivers only 38 fps on the GeForce RTX 4090.
As of now, Cities Skylines II has only 76/100 points on Metacritic.
