Florida-based marketing agency X Social Media LLC has filed a lawsuit against Elon Musk's X Corp. over the renaming of Twitter, reports The Verge.
The agency accuses X Corp. of unfair competition and infringement of trademark and service mark rights.
In its complaint, X Social Media claims that it has been continuously using the registered trademark "X SOCIALMEDIA" since 2016. However, as a result of Twitter's rebranding, in which the social network was renamed X, it suffered significant losses.
According to the Bureau, Meta filed a corresponding application on May 25, 2017. At the same time, June 11, 2019, was set as the date of registration of the brand. Meanwhile, the case did not reach the court case in this situation.
