Tesla has long used cameras in the interior of its electric cars to monitor hand position and the driver's attention to the road while using Autopilot. The autonomous control system requires you to keep your hands on the steering wheel and be ready to take control at any moment, and the camera is one of the auxiliary control methods.
Now one of the fans of finding new things in the code of the electric vehicle, known on Twitter as green, has told about his another find.
Looks like Tesla is planning a big boost to (camera based) driver monitoring.

They are now tracking additional things like how many yawns the driver had recently, how many blinks and how long they were, leaning. All this is to calculate how drowsy the driver is.
According to this information, the internal camera in the Tesla will also monitor the condition of the driver based on yawning, how often they blink and even the tilt of their head. And, of course, such monitoring will be carried out not only when the autopilot is activated.
Along with this, the car will also monitor how well the driver keeps to the lane, how many warnings and corrections have been made recently. All this will help determine whether the driver is tired or sleepy.
However, green did not find exactly how Tesla should behave, determining that the driver's condition does not meet safety requirements.
