While Apple is still preparing for the announcement of the long-awaited AR-glasses, Xiaomi is already doing it. The company presented the Wireless AR Glass Discovery Edition, a compact augmented reality headset that received the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 1 chipset (the same one installed in Quest Pro).

According to Xiaomi, such a headset is an elegant way to combine the real and virtual worlds, even without the need for a wired connection to a smartphone. The weight of the device is only 126 grams. The body is made of magnesium-titanium alloy, carbon elements are also used to lighten the design. A pair of high pixel density microOLED displays have a peak brightness of up to 1200 nits. The front part of the lenses is electrochromic, it automatically darkens when you need to focus on the virtual world. In addition, the device is equipped with a custom battery.
The improved tracking system should provide a new form of user interaction with the headset - our hands will be used to manipulate virtual objects. The device will follow hand gestures so that you can control the augmented reality as comfortably as possible. Xiaomi claims that the delay is only 50ms and this brings the Wireless AR Glass Discovery Edition almost on a par with wired headsets. Quick connection to smartphones (compatible devices must support the Snapdragon Spaces platform) is made using NFC.
Unfortunately, there is no information yet regarding the cost of the device or its availability on the market, as it is only a concept at this stage.
