The use of sapphire glass in ordinary watches has long been a normal practice. Such models are more often a little more expensive but are better able to withstand everyday troubles, after which scratches and even chips may appear on the dial. But smartwatches most often use a simpler protective glass, except for some models.
Zack Nelson on his JerryRigEverything channel, among other things, pays attention to the durability of the protective glass of various gadgets. He also does not pass by smartwatches, so this time he tested the protection of the new Apple Watch Ultra models, Samsung Galaxy Watch5, and Garmin Fenix 7 Solar.
Yes, this is not the first time that manufacturers of smartwatches use sapphire protective glass. Nelson's testing showed that Apple, Samsung, and Garmin spared no expense in materials in these models.
But among this trio, the watch from Garmin turned out to be the most durable, which also has a built-in solar panel for charging. At the same time, the glass in the Apple Watch Ultra and Samsung Galaxy Watch5 will still be more difficult to damage than the ordinary glass but they will still receive small "injuries" more easily, compared to the Garmin Fenix 7 Solar.
