Twitter's new owner and CEO Elon Musk is considering bringing back Vine, the short-form video service that Twitter bought and abandoned long before TikTok made the format popular.
The person, who works at Twitter, spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak for the company, but said the social network was discussing a possible Vine revival, first reported by Axios.
It's not yet clear how Vine's redesign and brand revival will fit in with other big questions hanging over Twitter, such as whether Musk will start mass layoffs or other cost-cutting measures or will attempt to increase subscription revenues.
Musk wrote more than 20 tweets on Saturday and Sunday, giving mostly mixed signals about where he wants to take Twitter and doing little to allay fears that hate speech and misinformation will thrive on the social network.
