More than a million Tesla owners will receive recall notices in the near future due to problems with closing windows in the company's electric cars. This applies to the following models and years: 2017-22 Model 3, as well as 2020-21 Model Y, X and S. Tesla has until mid-November to contact affected owners and plans to release an OTA software update to fix the problem, reports Engadget.

On Tuesday, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued a recall notice for many late-model vehicles across Tesla's lineup because "the window automatic reversal system may not react correctly after detecting an obstruction" and as such, "a closing window may exert excessive force by pinching a driver or passenger before retracting, increasing the risk of injury," the report said.

Tesla first discovered the problems while testing cars in August and has included the update for newly built cars since September 13. However, many Twitter users responded to the announcement saying that their cars have been experiencing similar issues since at least 2021.

This is far from the first Tesla recall due to safety issues: in the past two years alone, cars have been recalled for infotainment system overheating, camera and trunk defects, separating suspension, ADAS “full self driving” failure, pedestrian warning beeps, seat belt beeps, brake software glitches, and various touchscreen glitches.
