This was announced by the Prime Minister of Slovakia Eduard Heger.
"I would like to confirm that Slovakia has provided Ukraine with an air-defence system S-300. Ukrainian nation is bravely defending its sovereign country and us too. It is our duty to help, not to stay put and be ignorant to the loss of human lives under Russia’s agression", wrote Eduard Heger on Twitter.

— Eduard Heger (@eduardheger) April 8, 2022We should remind that from the very beginning of Russia's full-scale aggression, Ukraine has been begging its Western partners to provide the Armed Forces with anti-aircraft systems that can cover the skies over our country. If not the latest Western anti-aircraft systems like the MIM-104 Patriot or NASAMS, then at least the Soviet S-300, which are still in service in Eastern Europe. Unfortunately, our neighbors, well aware of what Russia is, did not want to leave their cities without protection and in turn, asked NATO partners to provide them with an adequate replacement.
And it seems that the American Patriot systems have already reached Slovakia, so the country transferred its S-300 to Ukraine. Unfortunately, Slovakia had only one battery (i.e.12 launchers) S-300PMU, and 48 5B55R missiles (range - 75 km). Let's hope this is just the beginning and that other Eastern European countries will soon join Slovakia's initiative.
